I’ve been known to edit video every now and again. On my latest project I’ve gotten to mess with some RED One footage. In my meager experience in editing, I’ve never run into any MAJOR file problems until three days ago when Final Cut Studio just stopped rendering a file. For anyone who ever runs into a similar, seemingly unfixable problem. The FCS maintenance Pack is what saved my butt.

Minimalism, which is Mr. Riley’s ballpark, can be expressed through many musical languages. After getting a headful of Ms. Newsom, I went to the Pilot Light, a tiny bar, to hear Argentinum Astrum, a fantastic doom-metal band from Knoxville. Repeated riffs so fat, loud, slow and heavy that the individual notes are nearly disconnected: what’s more minimal than that? Nothing. Consider yourself informed.

Be sure to check out the photos by my friend Brian Wagner.

Is there a way to know what fonts will work together? Building a palette is an intuitive process, but expanding a typographic duet to three, four, or even five voices can be daunting. Here are four tips for navigating the typographic ocean, all built around H&FJ’s Highly Scientific First Principle of Combining Fonts: keep one thing consistent, and let one thing vary.
